14 Weeks Pregnant (Day 92 to Day 98)

What happens to you?

This week, you should have done the appropriate screening tests, i.e. hematocrit test for anemia control, fasting blood sugar test and urine test so as to detect any urinary tract infection or kidney disorder.

If you are over the age of 35, you should have an amniocentesis. An amniocentesis involves taking a small sample of the amniotic fluid surrounding the fetus and provides general information about its health and growth.

You might be able to feel your uterus just above your pubic bone and notice a dark line on your belly.

Advice: You should have a nuchal translucency ultrasound, if you have not already done so.

What happens to your baby?

Your baby’s growth continues. The outer ears begin to form. The intestines are now inside its belly.

Hair appears on your baby’s head, eyebrows and body. That downy hair is called lanugo and is normally shed before birth. Some muscles work letting your baby to open and close its hands and do some grimacing.
