DISCHARGE PROCEDURE

Discharge from REA Hospital is usually on day 3 or 4 if you had a normal delivery and on day 4 if you had a caesarean section, following the instructions of your attending physician.

  1. Your attending gynecologist approves the discharge and at the same time the pediatrician informs you of your baby's health
  2. Subsequently, in consultation with the Head or the midwife of the department, you can contact the Patients’ Account Department at the 2nd level of the Maternity Hospital for the payment of the hospitalization fees and the receipt of your discharge
  3. After paying the hospitalization fees, the Head or the Midwife of the department will give you instructions on how to take care of your baby and will hand you over his/her health booklet
  4. Finally, you sign a Neonatal History with a photocopy of the identity card or the passport of both parents and a photocopy of the marriage certificate (if any) attached, together with one of the newborn’s bracelets (the second bracelet is left on your baby’s hand and is removed by you)
